Following the eight-month nationwide industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) last year, the lecturers’ salaries were withheld by the current administration.
In a letter obtained by Channels Television on Monday dated March 30, Ngige had asked the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, to pay 204 lecturers of medical faculties at UNIZIK their withheld salaries.
Tinubu, APC Oppose Move To Consolidate Atiku, Obi’s Petitions

The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday, opposed the move to consolidate the three different petitions that are seeking to nullify the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu, through his team of lawyers led by Chief Akin Olujinmi, SAN, maintained that merging all the petitions would adversely affect his ability to effectively defend all the issues that were raised against him by the petitioners.
“My lords, the issue of justice should be a restraint on the power of this court to exercise its discretion in granting the order for consolidation,” Tinubu pleaded, stressing that the petitioners did not only raise various issues against him, but equally seeking different reliefs.
Dangote Already Repaying Debts- Emefiele

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has disclosed that the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has started repaying some of the loans used in financing the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals.
While giving his address at the commissioning of the project in Lagos on Monday, Emefiele noted that the refinery which was initially estimated to cost about $9 billion when it started in 2013, was completed with a total of $18.5bn with funding distributed into 50 percent equity investment and 50 percent debt finance.
Emefiele, who noted that the commercial loan component of the project was financed majorly by domestic banks with the balance sourced from foreign banks, added that the CBN provided about N125 billion to cover domestic currency requirements for the venture.
