Ortom, who spoke on a television show, lamented the security breaches in his state. He was however hopeful that Tinubu’s government would do better in curtailing them.

The governor insisted the situation could have been averted if President Muhammadu Buhari had listened to him, but said he has forgiven Buhari for unprovoked killings across the country, particularly in Benue.

We Trust Court To Still Do Justice After May 29 -Obi

Labour Party’s (LP) presidential election candidate, Peter Obi, has said he believed he could still get justice in court even after president-elect, Bola Tinubu, is sworn in on May 29.

Pre-trials at the Presidential Election Tribunal ended on Tuesday while trial proper have been slated to begin on Tuesday, May 30. Petitioners have three weeks to present their case as opposed to seven weeks they asked for beginning from May 30 to June 23.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Diran Onifade, in a phone interview with DailySun, Obi expressed confidence in the tribunal and cited multiple incidences where people were recalled after being sworn into office.

“Ngige was governor of Anambra State for three years, when his election was found to be faulty, he was removed. Only of recent, Emeka Ihedioha in Imo was asked to vacate for Hope Uzodimma and on and on. So, it’s not a big deal. That’s not how system works. Even though some people think someone will use executive powers to curtail the court and all. There are separation of powers in our system.

Tinubu will make Nigeria ‘the envy of other nations’ – Senator Gaya

Senator Kabiru Gaya has said that the emergence of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president-elect is God’s answer to the country’s prayers for good leadership.

He said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during a joint prayer session organised by APC Stakeholders Forum on Wednesday night.

Gaya, who represents Kano-South Senatorial District in the Senate, said Tinubu’s antecedents when he was governor of Lagos State for two terms were there for all to see.

He expressed optimism that if he could replicate what he did in Lagos State in terms of infrastructure and grow the state’s economy in spite of obvious odds at the national level, Nigeria would be a better place for all.

Gaya noted that Kashim Shettima, the vice-president-elect, also worked hard as governor of Borno for two terms where he addressed issues of insecurity that brought problems to the state.

According to the lawmaker, Tinubu and Shettima are a perfect match that has the capacity to bring Nigeria to greater heights and make it the envy of other nations.

“I am sure God will guide them to bring in place professionals as cabinet members to work with and form a good government in the interest of the country and its citizens,” he said.

Power crisis: Tinubu govt advised to establish energy ministry

The Society of Technology and Energy Professionals, has urged the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, to create a Ministry of Energy and appoint an expert to pilot its affairs,

The professionals said the energy ministry would assist Nigeria to solve its energy problems and improve energy investments, funding, storage and infrastructure.

The President of STEP, Chimeremeze Enwere, gave this advice in a congratulatory message to Tinubu, after the first inaugural meeting of the Council for Registration of Technology and Energy Professionals in Port Harcourt.

In a statement on the congratulatory message on Wednesday, he said, “”Please accept our warm congratulations on your victory during the Nigerian concluded presidential election.

“Your victory was as a result of your love for our country, hardwork, commitments and ambitious goals to serve and renew the hope of Nigerians.

“This quest to lead Nigerians to the promised land where there will be no insecurity and corruption but rather a country that creates jobs for unemployed youths, quality education, good roads, quality healthcare, stable electricity and a great economy was backed up with unmatched determination and a strategic political ethics.
