The Supreme Court will today, Friday, decide on Tinubu’s victory over alleged double nomination by his running mate, Kashim Shettima.

PDP claimed the act violated the electoral laws.
The appellant anchored its appeal on the claims that the appellate court erred in law when it dismissed its appeal and affirmed the judgment of a trial court which held that the suit was incompetent and lacking in merit.
PDP pointed out that the ruling party breached the law by nominating Shettima as the senatorial candidate for Borno Central and as vice-presidential candidate.

Falana Sues Army Staff, Others
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) has filed a lawsuit against the Chief of Army Staff over “the extra-judicial killing of Inspector Monday Orukpe at the Trade Fair section of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway Area of Lagos State in August 2022 in the course of his official duties”.

Joined in the suit as respondents are 10 other army officers.
The suit was filed on Thursday on behalf of Mrs Favour Monday for the enforcement of her husband’s fundamental human rights to life, the dignity of the human person, private and family life and presumption of innocence.
Mrs Monday has four children with Inspector Monday Orukpe: Divine Monday (15 years old), Emmanuel Monday (12 years old), Praise Monday and Covenant Monday (one year old).
I Have Run A Good Race, Finished My Course – Buhari
Outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari has said it is now time for another person to take up the baton of leadership, having “run a good race” and “finished” his course.

The president said this on Thursday after the investiture of national honours of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima, at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
There was gridlock as guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, struggled to get to the venue of the event amid tight security checks.
Buhari, who also handed over the Transition Documents and the symbolic Baton of Service to Tinubu after the conferment of the national honours, congratulated the two men on their “well-deserved victory at the February 25th, 2023 presidential elections.”
Gov. Tambuwal swears-in new Head of Service
Ahead of the May 29 inauguration of the new government in Sokoto State, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal has sworn-in Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed as the new Head of Service.

Tambuwal swore-in Mohammed at the valedictory State Executive Council meeting on Thursday in Sokoto.
The governor said the action followed the vacancy created after the voluntary resignation by the Head of Service, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad.
He said the appointment of Mohammed was based on merit, being him the most senior Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service.
“That is the right thing to do, as you are aware, when I came in as a Governor in 2015, I inherited a Head of Service that we worked together closely to the end of his retirement period,” he said.
Zulum dissolves cabinet, directs outgoing commissioners to list achievements
Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has dissolved the State Executive Council and directed outgoing commissioners to list their achievements in their handover notes.

Zulum who announced the dissolution shortly after a valedictory session on Thursday in Maiduguri, said the commissioners who are to handover to their Permanent Secretaries should also include their challenges, projects completed and uncompleted in the notes.
Zulum lauded them for their contribution to the success of his administration and wished them the best in their future endeavours.
