The APC governors later came out to support a southern candidate to run for president under the APC platform. Recall that prior to the APC’s presidential primary election, it was rumoured that the party preferred Ahmed Lawan as its presidential candidate. However, President Muhammadu Buhari came out to deny that the party had any preferred candidate.
