While speaking during an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘This Week’ program with Sumner Sambo on Sunday, Prof Okechukwu, who is a prominent member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), opined that the recent emergence of factions laying claim to the leadership of the Labour Party, coupled with the controversial court ruling in Kano against Abia governor-elect, Alex Otti, and other candidates, there could be something the party has in its possession that is alarming to its opponents.
He said; “Before the elections, the Labour Party had an issue of cohesion, there is no doubt about that. But if I were a member of the party, I would ask myself; is it possible that why there is so much attempt to destabilize us, is simply because we have something that they are afraid of? That is the real concern. Is there something truly alarming that the Labour Party has, that is making those working against the party want to destabilize it? After all, the party came third in the presidential election, so why the furor?”
