Emeka Egbuaba, an Imo prison escapee, is said to have killed the boy and dumped his body in a soak-away pit. This is according to a story from DAILY POST. One of the reporters found out that the child was reported missing in the community around 7 p. m. on Monday, about 11 days ago. He was found with the person who killed him and cut out his heart, kidney, and private parts.
The brutal murder caused trouble in the Theoma community because the boy’ s mother, Mrs. Ifeoma Arudiegwu, a widow from the hitte Owerri community in Orlu LGA, cried out for justice over her son’s death.
Chigozie Okonkwo, a community leader, said that the deceased had been reported missing for more than four days before Chibuike, a relative of the suspect, told the deceased’ s guardian that the suspect’s maternal uncle had come home from Lagos and told him to stay away from the soak-away pit behind his house. The community leader went on to say that when Chibuike asked his maternal uncle why he told him not to go near the backyard, the accused killer told him that he had killed a goat and put its parts in the soak-away pit.
He said that the shocked boy went and told the dead guardian. The dead guardian then led the people of the Iheoma community to the pit where the boy’s body was found but without his private parts, heart, kidney, and other organs.
Okonkwo went on to say that after the discovery, the community told one of its sons who lived in Lagos about what happened and invited the suspect. The suspect was then caught by officers from the Ajangbadi Police Station in Lagos and sent to the Imo Police Command’s anti- kidnapping team.
He said, “We will not be safe if the cops let him go. Our traditional master and the whole community are worried, which is why members of the community went to the Owerri police command to demand justice for the dead.
When asked about it, Henry Okoye, a spokesman for the police in the state, said that he hadn’t heard anything about it yet. He said he would ask around and get back to our correspondent, but as of the time this story was written, he hadn’t done either.
