In the past, the court has overturned presidential elections in some African nations, according to the speaker, and even in Nigeria, the court has overturned election cases that resulted in the removal of governors who were in office.
In a recording that Arise TV posted on YouTube at around 8:46, Falana said:
“I go back to the 2007 presidential election, it was a four-to-three justices of the Supreme Court so it is a split judgement, it could have gone either way. So again as I said earlier, it depends on the evidence produced. In a couple of African countries, presidential elections have been annulled by the court. In Nigeria, a number of election petitions in the states have succeeded in which sitting governors have been removed. So there shouldn’t be any cause for worry”.
