While she is from Mani in Katsina State, Hajiya Safinatu was born on December 11, 1952, in Jos, the capital of the Plateau State.
Her mother is Hajia Hadizatu Mani, and her father is Alhaji Yusuf Mani.
She attended the Katsina Teachers Training College (WTC), where she received her degree in 1971.
When Safinatu was barely 14 years old, she had her first meeting with President Muhammad Buhari.
President Buhari visited Safinatu’s father with his late buddy General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua while they were both serving in the Nigerian Army.
Father of Safinatu, Alhaji Yusuf Mani, was serving as Alhaji Musa Yar’Adua’s secretary at the time. Yar’Adua was the first Republic’s Lagos State Minister at the time.
